Many young athletes dream about making it to the pros, the big leagues, the NFL. Kaleb Gonzalez got to experience just a bit of that during the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans game.

After the opening kickoff on Sunday, Dec. 29 at NRG Stadium, Kaleb Gonzalez, a junior at Cypress Ranch High School, had the opportunity to go in front of thousands and pick up the tee. He said the experience was amazing.

“It was a dream come true,” said Kaleb Gonzalez. “I always wanted to get on the Texans field, but to get on it during a live game was unbelievable.”

Kaleb Gonzalez’ mother Esmeralda Gonzalez enrolled him in the contest sponsored by Ashley HomeStore, a nationwide furniture store. Kaleb Gonzalez had no idea what was going on and could not believe it was true that he had won until he read the email himself.

While Kaleb Gonzalez said he wished he could have kept the tee, he was still very thankful to have the experience. He plays outside linebacker as No. 45 at Cypress Ranch.

The Texans play the Buffalo Bills tomorrow in the NFL Wild Card, and Kaleb Gonzalez said he stoked to watch them play and especially to have J.J. Watt back in the game. “Yes. I know the Texans can beat the Bills and keep going to get Houston their first Super Bowl championship. [I am] super excited, and I know he will help give the team a big advantage going into the playoffs.”

Graham said she enjoys watching the students get the opportunity of such a unique experience.

“Running onto a field during an NFL game is the chance of a lifetime. The smiles on the kids faces as they come off the field are priceless,” she said. “It’s certainly an experience they’ll remember for years to come.”
