The political legacy of the Bush family may get a new chapter if Pierce Bush has his say.

Pierce Bush is the grandson of late President George H.W. Bush, the son of Neil Bush and the nephew of former President George W. Bush. Pierce Bush’s cousin is George P. Bush, the current commissioner of the Texas General Land Office.

Bush announced his intention to run for the seat in a crowded field of GOP candidates via 77彩票网app.

“We face a very challenging time in our nation and are on the brink of losing a generation to the idea that socialism and free stuff are the answers for their future,” Bush said. “But we all know that socialism has failed everywhere and everyone. It is time for new leaders to stand for conservatism that empowers all Americans, placing individuals above government and ensuring that we all have the freedom to achieve success in life.”

Pierce was appointed CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star by its Executive Board in August 2015. He has a bachelor of arts in American Studies from the University of Texas in Austin.

77彩票网appMonday, Dec. 9, is the deadline for candidates to file with the Texas Secretary of State’s Office for a spot on the March 2020 ballot. According to the Secretary of State’s Office, Bush had not filed the appropriate paperwork to be on the ballot as of early Monday afternoon.

District 22 has been a Republican stronghold but has been trending toward Democrats in recent elections. Olson won re-election in 2018 over his Democrat opponent Sri Preston Kulkarni by 4.9 percentage points.

Since 1979, the seat has been in Republican hands continuously except for one term when Democrat Nick Lampson won the 2006 election. The seat was held by former Majority Whip Tom DeLay, who served from Jan. 3, 1985 through June 9, 2006.

Kulkarni has officially signed up to be on the 2020 primary ballot on the Democratic side. As of Monday afternoon, he has challengers in Nyanza Davis Moore and Derrick A. Reed.
